World of Difference initiatives
Detailed below are a number of initiatives born out of World of Difference’s work.
Delivering Sustainable Aid To Remote Communities
During a World of Difference tour you will visit remote villages where Rotary is delivering sustainable humanitarian aid and making a World of Difference in the lives of beautiful Cambodians. Villages that are located in Varin District, a District located in Siem Reap Province, in north-west Cambodia and remote villages in Kampong Speu Province, in the North of Cambodia.
In Varin, you will see how Rotary have been delivering sustainable humanitarian aid to the impoverished communities through a Rotary Foundation Global Grant.
The aid being delivered includes: -
Clearing an overgrown 800 year old dam – built by the Angkors - of water plants and sediment, so that the community have access to clean water.
Provision of a solar powered water pump that pumps water from the dam up to a purpose built water tower, so that the community may collect clean filtered water.
Delivery of micro funding so that family groups may generate an income through better sustainable farming practices.
In Kampong Speu Province you will see how seven Australian Rotary clubs had come together and delivered sustainable humanitarian aid that changed the lives of communities in two villages forever.
The aid delivered - again funded via a Rotary Foundation Global Grant - included: -
Building more than 40 in ground water tanks so that rain water could be captured during the wet season and provide families with access to clean water during the dry season.
Taught the communities to farm their land – crops, cattle, pigs fish - and create a sustainable income for their families.
Started a school that now educates more than 300 children every year.
